About Cantonese Chef Restaurant
Cantonese Chef Restaurant is a chinese restaurant in Savannah, Georgia. It is listed at 5204 Waters Ave, Savannah, GA 31404, which places it among the local businesses of Savannah that residents and visitors turn to when they need this kind of service close by.
In cities with a Chinatown, weekend mornings bring dim sum carts or order sheets, and lines form early at the most popular spots in Savannah; walk-ins are standard and reservations are uncommon outside large banquet restaurants. Regional labels matter: Cantonese, Sichuan, Hunan, Shanghainese and Taiwanese kitchens cook very differently, so a restaurant's stated region is a better guide to the food than the word "Chinese" alone. Some smaller restaurants in Georgia are BYOB with no corkage fee; call ahead to confirm. A tip of 15-20% is customary for table service but not expected at counter-order takeout. Spice level, MSG and allergen questions are normal to ask before ordering, and most kitchens are happy to leave an ingredient out or tone down the heat if you mention it when ordering rather than after the food arrives.
Hours are published for 6 days a week. The most common schedule is 11:30 amβ7 pm. Note that it does not open on Sunday. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (912) 354-5024. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone.
Its Google rating is 4.1 out of 5 from 78 reviews, a solid but mixed picture; reading the most recent reviews will tell you what to expect.
Savannah is in Georgia, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. Getting around Savannah is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Georgia's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

First time eating here today and the food is great. Yes, great. Totally takeout and cash only! However the beef fried rice is the best I've ever had. The dumpling soup broth is good and the dumplings themselves are the biggest I've ever seen. $10 for a small beef fried rice (which comes in a full box alone) and the dumpling soup is $4. Worth it and full as we speak. The only con is the parking can be tricky because of its location and once again they are CASH ONLY! Also picks are AFTER I'd eaten a little from both.

My menu choice item has always been the chef special fried rice. It is absolutely delicious! On this particular visit, I called in to order the rice , chef special lo mein ,and shrimp with broccoli ( I wanted chicken too in the broccoli meal ($4 extra). When I ordered the rice it was asked if I wanted bean sprouts and green onions? I said, please. There was not a mention of an extra charge of $2 for these ingredients to be included. When I arrived at the restaurant, I saw a sign that specified the prices for the additional ingredients. This could have easily been conveyed to minimize shady business practices. In addition, the broccoli and shrimp was absolutely disgusting! The shrimp were tiny( salad shrimp), the broccoli smelled horrible along with the sauce used in the meal. Finally, the lo mein was actually dried clumped ramen noodles with shrimp, pork, and chicken pieces thrown on the top. I used chicken broth to make it edible. I will never visit this establishment again, Unfortunately.

My first time here. Nice friendly people, place is nice and clean for a small place. I only waited about 10 minutes for my food cooked fresh. I included updated menus that are posted on the countertop window. When I was looking online I couldn't find anything recent. They accept cash only. I got a large beef and broccoli. This would be good if you can't handle strong flavors. It was cooked good it just didn't have much flavor. I put some ginger and some sauce on it, it was better. Tomorrow I will make some fried rice with my leftovers. I don't think they have an online presence so stop by and check it out. Don't forget to bring cash to tip! Use your leftover change, every bit helps.

Chicken wings were good and lightly crispy like I like them. The chicken noodle soup tasted as if the noodles were just dropped in hot water with no real seasoning. (Post-pandemic prices are out of sight).
